Going for the Professional Look...?

Well I have been having some fun this morning (well deserved after having to desert Christopher's birthday party to take Marcus to the hospital - not the nicest thing in the world, poor little chap, but at least it wasn't someone else's child that fell off the bench laughing and cut their head open). I thought it would teach him to sit on the bench properly, but this morning he still sat on it cross legged, so he is now being watched like a hawk to make sure he doesn't sit like that any more...

So, to chill out for a bit after another night of not enough sleep, it was time to put some pretty stuff in my Holborn Zip :o)

Picture heavy section coming up now...

My oh so professional Holborn Zip

OK - maybe not so professional after all...

A fab selection of sticky notes, with a top opening envelope behind containing my Paperchase and Moleskine stickers
The first section is my info section, containing FF registration sheet, sizing charts etc that come as standard with the FFs, my Indodispensible Data sheet and timetables (which I have yet to fill out), along with all my planning sheets to work out what needs to go into my timetable.

Blank timetables - I really must sort these out
The next section is still my Dodo pad inserts to track my food, exercise and supplements
Thankfully the marker is in the way so the exercise column is hidden

My today marker, overhauled with washi tape and Sentimental Circus stickers
After this we have a section for recording my hours worked and one containing my MO2P diary (which I don't look at - will be re-thinking this).

Then we get to my next marker which is for my main section.

I was going to put her on the current weeks page, but she gets in the way a bit, However, she is happy wherever she is - I think she may be a Martini girl - any time, any place, any where :o)
In the main section I still have my WO2P lined diary from Sweden, but have replaced my To Do lists between each page with A5 funky paper, and have added a smaller funky sheet for writing out quotes, or nice thoughts so they can be taken out of here and put into my Happiness Binder.

My first Super Cat sheet "Once upon a time, in a land far away... Make time to DREAM!!!"

And my first non "To Do" list, to do list. As you can see I have quite a lot to try to accomplish today...

Avery re-positionable tab used as a top tab to mark the current week

Another sample combination - cats and Super Cat

Mr Comic and Chou Fleur combination
Behind this section there is my annual planner - again, not looked at in quite a while, and then a section for storing some extra paper in case it's needed.
Random spare paper
After this I have sections for my 101 in 1001 Days list, addresses, project plans (not used).

Now I know I am pretty new to the discovery of the 30mm rings and how amazing they are, but today has seen me remove a fair amount of spare paper from my filo, because with all my pretty new stuff there just isn't enough room - will FF ever do 50mm rings...? I have more pretty paper than I can shake a stick at now, and haven't opened any of the fantastic writing paper sets that I bought to use in my A5 (Alice in Wonderland anyone? I can't wait to get her in here).

So, it's looking lovely and I'm already thinking of making some changes. As those of you who have read my earlier posts may remember, my Filofax obsession has paid off really well with the organisation of my work. So well in fact that it is now very rare that I bring any work home with me, and I usually get home in time to put my boys to bed. With this in mind, do I really need to stick with the one life one filo method?

Or would I be better off leaving my A5 on my desk at work every night (I have done so on a couple of occasions already and it was pretty tough, but this bad boy adds a fair amount of weight to my rucksack) and using a personal for everything else?

I may switch to a MO2P layout with lots of pretty paper in between as I don't actually have that many meetings, and it would give me more space to use so I could put more of my funky paper in it... ooh, now there's a thought...

I would consider a pocket as well, but they're too small for my pretty paper - ha ha ha!!! So many things to consider :o)

  1. I'm loving this post the paper looks so awesome I feel all inspired to overhaul my A5 (and I've ordered some bits after seeing your paper stash!!) and of course I think you absolutely need a personal size for your outside work life so that beauty A5 can stay on your desk - less chance of loosing her!!!

  3. See I look at your lovely pictures and just think looks like what I would do with mine for my teachers planner... which is what I want another (lighter) A5 for! I am also thinking A5 plus a pocket size to carry around with me, as I think personal just may be too big if I am using an A5 for work purposes I wouldn't need so much space to write things in (or so I think!).
So many lovely Filofax and so little money! Ahh what to do!!!

Did a bit of youtube research, after I posted above, on what the Malden looks like with stuff in and open and I don't think it looks quite the same so... I may have just purchased an A5 zipped Holborn in Wine... :D very excited!

  5. Excellent!!! The Holbourn Zip is a fab binder. Although I do love my A5 Malden and may well swap back to it again for a while in the not too distant future :o)

  6. I love the ruler! And the whole inside is so colourful, just a blast when you open it. Do you use this for business? Does anyone ever comment?

  7. This baby sits next to me on my desk at work all day. I don't have many meetings, so not many people have seen my new inserts, but I think when they spot them, most people will just think I'm nuttier than they already thought :o)

  8. I LOVE your binder!!!! Makes me want to do the same thing. It's is so interesting and colorful! May I ask where you bought all that fun paper? I did a google search for Super Cat but came up with unrelated links.

  9. Hi DEM :o) If you take a look at the "Hauls Galore!!!" and "Hauls Part 2!!!" posts from May you will see which ones come from where, but all the papers are either from www.artbox.co.uk or www.modes4u.com. Be ready to get sucked into buying way too much stuff, I think I now have enough to last me until I die at the age of 150 - ha ha ha!!!

    1. Thank you, LJ! I'll be looking at those posts! I must tell you that I LOVE my new Holborn! I'm so glad that I bought it. I would have kicked myself had I not and then read your post on your zip! But now I want an A5! You enabler, you!

I must say, I really enjoy reading your posts and comments! Well...I'm off to read about the lovely stationary/haul of yours! Pulling out my wallet as I do....

    2. A5's are truly awesome - although by the time you have filled them up with everything they do add a fair amount of weight to your bag to lug around :o(

    1. I'm really sorry, they came as standard with one of my A5 filos, but I don't remember which one. It could have been any of them, but I'm pretty sure it was from the UK website...

    2. I have just had a dig through my box of tricks and can only find one other one, so no spares. Unfortunately the diary it was in with I have quite a few of, but none of the others have the timetable in. It may have been the Dominoes that had them, as they were the only ones that I can think of that would have come with Jul 2012 - Dec 2013 5 language diary.

It may be worth emailing Filofax UK to find out if they can help...

  11. My daughter's Domino came today and her 2013 diary has timetables in... shame it's a personal or I'd nick them off her. I know there is a timetable on somebody's site in a teacher planner pack.... but I can't remember where!

    1. I'm sure I have seen that post - it would have been on Philofaxy's Web Finds, but can't remember when or whose it was. You could ask the question on Free for All Tuesday - I'm sure someone will know. Or there maybe a timetable template in the files section...

    1. Thank you. I saw from your comment on Tracy's blog that you have been looking for a Piazza. I have a personal Sunflower one if you're interested. I'm in the UK at the beginning of July so can post when I get there if you want it. I got it in the Germany sale and it wasn't as vibrant as I was expecting and I've never used it :o(

    1. I has 30mm rings - I thought i would never need 30mm, but with all this cute stationery I am beginning to run out of space and may have to rethink my set up pretty soon :o)
